Evidence Guide

The game has 6 evidence types. An Identify contract gives each ghost exactly 3 of them; a Cleanse contract puts all 6 in play. This page covers what each one looks like and how to read it reliably.

How confirmation works
For most evidence types, only the highest intensity level counts as confirmed evidence in an Identify contract. Freezing is the exception: any reading below 0°C / 32°F qualifies. Lower readings on the other types still mark ghost activity in the area, so they remain worth tracking.
False evidence on Expert & Master
Higher difficulties no longer guarantee 3 real evidence. Expert ghosts produce 2 real + 1 false and Master ghosts 1 real + 2 false. False evidence shows up as the strongest reading first, then degrades over time - so cross-check with behaviour and wait for suspicious readings to drop before locking in. See Contracts for the full breakdown.

EMF

Electromagnetic field readings

EMF is generated when the ghost interacts with objects. Only Level 5 counts as evidence for identification.

Intensity Levels
1
Background noise 0-5 mG
2
Minor activity 5-10 mG
3
Moderate activity 10-15 mG
4
Strong activity 15-20 mG
5
Evidence 20+ mG
Equipment
KII EMF DetectorEMF-V Generic
Tips
  • Check near recently interacted objects (thrown items, slammed doors, flickered lights)
  • EMF 5 is fleeting - stay near active areas
  • Low-grade EMF can now occasionally linger after a ghost event
  • Ignore EMF readings during hunts; equipment malfunctions and gives false readings

UV

Ultraviolet fingerprints

UV evidence appears as fluorescent traces on surfaces the ghost has touched.

Intensity Levels
1
Barely visible traces Faint
2
Spray/puddle patterns Clear
3
Handprints or full patterns Distinct
Equipment
UV GlowstickUV-13X LED Flashlight
Tips
  • Check recently touched light switches and doors (not slammed)
  • Moved chairs leave UV evidence on the floor
  • UV-13X has a wider beam than glowsticks

Freezing

Sub-zero temperatures

The ghost's favourite room will be the coldest. Any temperature below 0°C / 32°F counts as Freezing evidence in Identify mode.

Intensity Levels
1
Cool (not evidence) 5°C to 0°C
2
Cold (Evidence) -7°C to -0.1°C
3
Very Cold (Evidence) -13.8°C to -7.1°C
4
Frigid (Evidence) -20.5°C to -13.9°C
Equipment
DPT-1000X ThermometerLaser Thermometer
Tips
  • Coldest room = ghost's favourite room
  • Laser Thermometer gives instant readings at range
  • Track temperature changes over time to narrow down rooms
  • Room gets colder ~1-2 seconds before a hunt starts

Audio

Spirit Box / Infrasound responses

Audio evidence comes from ghost responses through the Spirit Box or Infrasound Receiver.

Intensity Levels
1
Barely audible noise Garbled
2
Partially intelligible phrases Partial
3
Full intelligible phrases Clear
Equipment
SB7 Spirit BoxInfrasound Receiver
Tips
  • Infrasound Receiver MUST be in the ghost's favourite room
  • Use the Speak EZ phone app if you don't have a mic (37 phrases)
  • Skia has unique sympathetic responses
  • Banshee may scream when your heart rate is >120 BPM

Writing

Manifestations in journals

Writing evidence appears in Blank Books or on Drawing Easels placed in the ghost's active area.

Intensity Levels
1
Incomprehensible Scribbles
2
Partially legible Partial
3
Hostile messages Clear
Equipment
Blank BookDrawing Easel
Tips
  • Place books/easels in or near the favourite room
  • Writing takes time to appear - be patient
  • Drawing Easel is more expensive but provides a larger surface

Radiation

Abnormal CPM readings

Radiation is detected using the Geiger Counter. Abnormal CPM (counts per minute) readings indicate evidence.

Intensity Levels
1
Low radiation 100-500 CPM
2
Moderate radiation 501-1000 CPM
3
High radiation (Evidence) 1001-2000 CPM
Equipment
SG-2000 Geiger Counter
Tips
  • Sweep methodically with the Geiger Counter
  • Radiation can be found anywhere inside the location
  • Higher CPM = stronger confirmation

Evidence confirmed?

The Ghost Identifier narrows the 18 types down to those matching the evidence found so far.
